day 7 2012 - The Picasso Exhibition - Art Gallery of New South Wales

Today Pearl and I visited the Picasso Exhibition at the NSW Art Gallery In Sydney.

Here I am outside the NSW Art Gallery - January 7, 2012

It was a delightful day. Breakfast in Darling Street, Balmain. Became friends with a group of locals, who we met at the bus stop, where all of us were going the the NSW Art Gallery.

We, like them had pre-booked our tickets online, and enjoyed a Sydney bus trip into Queen Victoria Building, only to find out there were major road closes for the Sydney Festival today.

That meant we had to walk from Sydney CBD to the Art Gallery. There were more people on one  street in the city,  then I would ever see in Murrurundi in twelve months.

This is a a work from the Picasso  Exhibition .

The Exhibition is well worth seeing. Picasso is one of the greatest artists of the twentieth century. He was a prolific painter who lived well into his 80's.

His works are recognised world wide.

The exhibition contained art works across his while life time.

There were no crowds or queues, although the viwing areas became a little congested at times. There were plenty of art works on display.

Just a short distance from the NSW Art Gallery,
in Martin Place, Sydney were members of the
' Occupy Movement Sydney'.
I have been aware of the "Occupy movement"
since its early beginnings last year. I fundamentally
agree with the position they take about those who
really carry the responsibility for the collapse of major
economies around the world.

Corporate greed and the penalties that has inflicted
on the ordinary citizens of the major world economies
is outrageous

With the imminent demise of
the great Kodak company
I came across this advertisement
from a 1953 edition of 'The Age' in a fantastic 'retro' shop
 in Balmain.

The shop had an amazing
collection of old newspapers
as well as a set of 1853,
pre=photographic era copies
on the London Times, with
pages filled with the famous
lithographic sketches
When will we see the demise of this icon?
